An American trucker has been sentenced to two years in a Whitehorse jail for smuggling pornography.

Beaver Creek, Yukon, border services agents arrested Aaron Finn, 56, earlier this summer after finding numerous pornographic photos on his laptop computers.

They discovered that Finn is a regular traveller to sex tourism countries like the Philippines.

RCMP computer technicians found numerous videos and hundreds of photographs depicting child pornography. Some of the victims appear as young as one year old.

Finn claims to be in a relationship with a 19-year-old Filipino woman.

While there is no evidence he planned to distribute the pornography, Judge John Faulkner said the images Finn carted through Canada constitute the worst kind of child pornography.

Finn pleaded guilty and was sentenced in territorial court earlier this month.

Federal law imposes a minimum of one year in jail for child pornography offenders.

With credit for time served, Finn has 16 months left to serve in Whitehorse.

After he serves his time, he will be deported to face additional charges in the U.S.
