Two 19-year-old men from Tulita, N.W.T., are facing liquor charges after RCMP seized more than eight dozen bottles of vodka being transported to the community.
Tulita RCMP received a tip April 3 that two people were travelling to the community by snowmobile with a large amount of liquor.
Police stopped a snowmobile towing a sled and observed three cases of vodka, each containing 24 375-ml bottles. A further search found another 25 375-ml bottles.
Tulita liquor restrictions allow for a possession limit of 1,140 ml of spirits — about three 375-ml bottles.
RCMP are withholding the men’s names until formal charges have been laid.
