The mayor of Tuktoyaktuk, N.W.T., is assuring his community there was no foul play in two recent deaths.
On Monday, a couple from the community was found dead in a rented cabin.
The RCMP called the deaths ‘suspicious’, which created speculation in the community about how the couple died.
Now, Merven Gruben says the deaths are ‘undetermined’, and that there is no danger to the community.
"The reason they said it was a suspicious death was, you know, anything out of the ordinary is suspicious … It didn't mean that the community was in any danger," said Gruben.
The bodies have been sent out of town for autopsies. The exact cause of death won't be known until the results are back.
