After eight years of playing with the NHL Nashville Predators, Jordin Tootoo was back in Nashville this week with his new team, the Detroit Red Wings.
The young hockey star who grew up in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, said the game against former teamates Tuesday night was special.
"Yeah it sure was," he said. "You know, staying at the hotel driving into the city, taking a cab to the different spots that I'd normally drive with my own vehicles, it was all a new experience in itself. Obviously in warm-ups I just wanted to stay loose and at keep calm and just kind of go with the flow and enjoy every moment of it, and the reception that I got was very nice."
During the first period, the Predators showed a video tribute to Tootoo. That prompted a standing ovation from the Nashville crowd.
Tootoo scored his first goal in a Red Wings jersey in the second period to bring the score to 2-2.
Nashville went on to win 4-3.
