Teens charged with arson and theft in Fort Resolution
House broken into, workshop destroyed by fire on Saturday
Two Fort Resolution, N.W.T., teens have been charged with offences including arson and theft after a fire in the community caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage.
RCMP and the Fort Resolution Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire on Highway Road on Saturday. When they arrived, a large workshop and two other buildings on the lot were engulfed in flames. RCMP say tens of thousands of dollars worth of vehicles, vehicle parts and tools were destroyed.
The main residence was also broken into and vandalized.
RCMP searched two homes in the community Monday and recovered what they say is stolen property from the break-in.
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with arson, breaking and entering, and mischief. A second 16-year-old boy has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation.
Both will appear in territorial court in Fort Resolution in the next few months.
