A 42-year-old man has been fined after Cambridge Bay RCMP seized six 60 ounce bottles of vodka from his luggage at the community’s airport.
A 42-year-old man has been fined after RCMP seized six 60 ounce bottles of vodka from his luggage at the airport in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. (Google Streetview )RCMP say they received a tip about a man arriving on an afternoon flight with alcohol and possibly marijuana in his luggage.
He consented to having his suitcase searched and police found six 60 ounce bottles of Alberta Pure Vodka and two small liqueur bottles. Police say the alcohol has a street value of $1,900.
Permits from the Nunavut Liquor Commission are required to import liquor into Cambridge Bay.
The man was served with a $950 ticket for unlawful possession of alcohol.
Police ask anyone with information about illegal substances being brought into the community to call the Cambridge Bay RCMP at 983-0123 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
