Woman medevaced to Ottawa with severe head injuries

Nunavut RCMP have charged a 50-year-old man with the aggravated assault of a woman in Iqaluit.
Pitseolak Peter is also charged with failing to comply with a probation order.
Police say they were called to a residence in the city on Sunday evening, where they found a woman with severe head injuries.
She was transported to Qikiqtani General Hospital and then medevaced to Ottawa for further treatment.
Peter was expected to make his first court appearance today in Iqaluit.
