Yellowknife RCMP probe homicide of N.W.T. woman

Yellowknife RCMP are investigating a homicide after a 63-year-old woman was found last week near 53rd Street and 50th Avenue.
She was taken in an ambulance to Stanton Territorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on Dec. 30.
Yvonne Desjarlais, 63, was found dead near 53rd St. and 50th Ave. last week.The victim was identified as Yvonne Desjarlais of Lutsel K'e, N.W.T. A post-mortem completed on Wednesday in Edmonton ruled that the cause of death was a homicide.
The "G" Division Major Crimes Unit, Yellowknife Detachment, and other support units, as well as the Office of the Chief Coroner of the Northwest Territories are investigating.
