A high school student from Fort Smith has spent the week as a spokesperson of sorts for the Northwest Territories.
Emily Sturgeon has been curating the @PeopleOfCanada Twitter feed. Every week the account is taken over by a different Canadian in different cities around the country.
They tweet about where they live and answer people's questions.
Sturgeon said she thinks a lot of people don't really know about the N.W.T.
“They're so surprised when I tell people about just driving down the highway and even just seeing buffalo,” she said. “It's usual for me but a lot of people find it really interesting."
Sturgeon said she has received tweets from all over, even as far away as Malaysia and Europe.
She said a lot of people ask about the cold weather but also want to know what it's like to live in the North.
The point is to teach people about the diversity of cultures around the country, she said.
She continues tweeting until Sunday.
