Fire near Yellowknife causes $200K in damage
Homeowner was able to rescue two dogs from the home

A water storage room off the main part of a house at Cassidy Point, near Yellowknife, caught fire Wednesday evening.
At about 5:40 p.m. the homeowner arrived at the house and discovered the fire, which had spread to the roof of the house.
No one was home when the fire started.
The homeowner was able to rescue two dogs and also found a cat which was missing from the home.
About 15 City of Yellowknife firefighters went to the scene and started fighting the blaze shortly after 6 p.m.
Crews stayed until about 1:30 a.m. Temperatures were -30 Wednesday night.
No one was injured in the fire. While the fire is not considered suspicious, the NWT Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.
Damages are estimated at about $200,000.
