Youths charged for break-ins, vandalism in Inuvik, N.W.T.
Suspects are under the age of 12 in some cases

The RCMP in Inuvik, N.W.T., are laying charges in relation to a string of vandalism in the town.
In many cases, the suspects are very young.
“A couple of files we've investigated lately, we’ve had suspects younger than 12 years old. When they're under 12 they don't fall under the Young Offender's Act,” said Staff Sgt. Jerry McKenna.
In those cases, the RCMP goes to the parents. Property owners are free to sue the parents in those cases.
Last week, three boys aged 12, 13 and 15 were charged with breaking and entering Mac’s News Stand on Inuvik’s main street.
Two of those youth were also charged with damaging two vehicles outside an apartment.
Three other boys, aged 15 and 16, also face charges for a break-and-enter at the Midtown Market convenience store.
Last week, two 12-year-old girls and a 13-year-old boy were charged with breaking into and vandalizing the food bank.
McKenna said the recent break-ins and vandalism are not limited to the work of young people — a 66-year-old man was also charged with breaking and entering this week.
