Advance polls for Iqaluit's municipal election are being held today.
Citizens who will not be in Iqaluit on election day Oct. 15, can cast their ballots at the Cadet Hall Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Citizens can vote for a new mayor and councillors, as well as members of the Iqaluit District Education Authority.
Ratepayers can also cast their ballot in the referendum on the new aquatic centre which will determine whether the City of Iqaluit can borrow up to $40 million to build it.
Voting will not take place for the Apex District Education Authority or the Commission scolaire francophone du Nunavut. Those positions have already been acclaimed.
The Apex DEA will be made up of Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, Anne Crawford and Jesse Mike; and the Commission scolaire will comprise Louis Arki, Jacques Fortier, Manon Painchaud and Seth Reinhart.
