Hay River, N.W.T., man charged with murder

A Hay River, N.W.T., man has been charged with murder in the death of a woman in the community Monday night.
Richard Deleeuw, 25, has been charged with second-degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in territorial court in Yellowknife on Thursday morning.
Hay River RCMP say they got a call for assistance at around 10:30 p.m. Monday. Witnesses say the woman was found laying on her porch bleeding. Officers provided first aid and CPR until paramedics arrived.
The woman was taken to H. H. Williams Memorial Hospital where she died from her injuries. Her body was flown to Edmonton for an autopsy.
The RCMP's G Division Major Crimes Unit, Forensic Identification Services, Federal Investigative Unit and the Office of the Chief Coroner of the N.W.T. are in Hay River assisting with the investigation.
