Man went to medical boarding home for help after stabbing

A man is suffering from life-threatening injuries after being stabbed Friday in Iqaluit.
The manager of a medical boarding home says the man was not stabbed in the home, but went there for assistance.
"I just want to clarify that the victim had walked from whereever it was that he was assaulted then entered the medical boarding home at sometime around midnight Friday night and he was bleeding very heavily from a stab wound. As soon as he entered the building he collapsed to the floor and our staff immediately called the RCMP and the ambulance," said Jim Taylor, who manages the home.
The Iqaluit RCMP says they went to the scene, found the victim and rushed him to the Qikiqtani Regional Hospital. The man was later flown to Ottawa for further treatment.
George Audlakiak, 45, has been charged with aggravated assault and fail to comply with conditions in connection to the incident. He appeared in court Monday and will return again Oct. 2.
