An Iqaluit man faces charges including two counts of sexual assault and one count of forcible confinement following two incidents on Tuesday.

Iqaluit RCMP say officers were called to assist a distraught female outside a home early Tuesday morning.

They discovered that she had been sexually assaulted at another location, was eventually released by her attacker and fled to where police found her.

The RCMP say they then received a subsequent call about another sexual assault in progress taking place outside a nearby home.

They say officers found and arrested a male suspect.

Iqaluit resident Lucassie Ipeelie has been charged in connection with both incidents.

He faces six charges in total: two counts of sexual assault, one count of forcible confinement, one count of uttering threats, one count of assault, and one count of breaching a probation order.
