The RCMP are warning they'll be checking for speeders and drunk drivers en route to Dawson City this weekend for the music festival.

They're setting up checkstops along the Klondike Highway.

“We'll be watching to ensure that everyone is driving sober — and that's both alcohol and the use of drugs — and speed is also a concern for us as well,” said Cpl. Shawn Pollard with the Whitehorse RCMP. “That road seems to get lots of high speeds.”

Additional officers from Whitehorse will also be in Dawson City this weekend to patrol the community.

The Dawson City Music festival, in its 34th year, runs July 20-22.
