The Yukon coroner's office confirmed Monday the death of Joseph Adelard Tremblay, who went missing from Teslin in June.

The 53-year-old’s body was found last Thursday at 10:30 p.m. local time near the community, 180 kilometers south of Whitehorse.

“The investigation is ongoing, but what we do know is Mr. Tremblay was last seen June 13, 2012 at around 7 o'clock p.m. He was paddling a red canoe east of the Teslin bridge toward the Nisutlin delta and from our preliminary investigation, that's the information we have right now,” said Kirsten MacDonald, Yukon’s chief coroner.

MacDonald said she still needs to determine the cause of death.

Tremblay was new to the community of Teslin. He arrived there in May of this year from Thunder Bay, Ont., and he worked at the Yukon Motel.
