Police in Iqaluit arrested one man after an armed standoff early Thursday morning.
RCMP say they were called to the Arctic College 'Q' residence building 504 – a densely-populated area close to the main campus – at 1:40 a.m. local time Thursday.
According to police, they were met by a drunk man brandishing a high-powered rifle. The man fired a shot and then a stand-off began.
Police eventually arrested the man without incident at about 5:30 a.m. No one was injured.
The name of the accused is not being released until charges can be laid.
