A trailer home caught fire in Inuvik, N.W.T., this weekend.
The family who lived in the home was alerted by a smoke detector and all were able to escape.
Inuvik fire chief Jim Sawkins said that’s important, because trailer homes can be dangerous.
“The difference between the mobile homes and a regular home is the construction style, and it places a sense of urgency on the mobile homes because they will burn much quicker,” he said.
It’s not yet known what caused the fire.
About 25 volunteer firefighters were called to the scene at midnight Saturday. They were able to prevent the home from being completely destroyed, but part of it was destroyed and the inside of the house was blackened by smoke
