The Whitehorse RCMP have arrested two young girls in connection with several break and enters in the city.

The girls were arrested Thursday evening near the Elijah Smith federal building.

An employee who had returned to his office after hours found a girl rifling through his desk. He then called the police.

Officers saw two girls leaving the building and chased them on foot. They were caught shortly after.

The girls’ names and ages have not been released.

Police have linked the pair to break-ins at the T.C. Richards building and the Anglican Church.

The two already have more than a dozen outstanding charges including break and enters, theft of a truck and breaching conditions. One of those conditions includes not being in the company of the other.
