A Yellowknife woman has been accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from her former employer.

Coleen McClean faces more than 100 forgery-related charges.

She allegedly wrote cheques payable to herself signing them with Jim Pook's name. He's the owner of Northern Communication and Navigation Systems. Pook confirms that McClean worked for the company for nearly seven years until May 2011.

It's alleged that the 62-year-old woman wrote the fraudulent cheques over a period of three years.

McClean's case was in court this week but according to her defence lawyer, she's in an Edmonton hospital with health complications.

McClean is due back in court on Feb. 28.
