An investigation into a stabbing in Inuvik took a strange twist this week as RCMP charged a man they initially thought was the victim.

On the afternoon of Dec. 3, Christopher Storr, 50, walked into the RCMP detachment in Inuvik with two stab wounds.

After further investigation and eyewitness interviews, police have now decided to charge Storr with assault with a weapon in connection with the incident at a downtown apartment.

They believe he may have pulled the knife on a younger man, who wrestled the knife away from him and acted in self-defence.

The man who stabbed him is not facing any charges.

Storr has been released from Inuvik Regional Hospital and is now in police custody.
