The president of the Inuit land-claims organization Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. will be off work, starting Monday, until Oct. 30 over problems with his credit card account.

The Nunavut Tunngavik Board has passed a resolution suspending Paul Kaludjak with pay.

In the resolution, the board also suspended Kaludjak's credit card privileges until the money he owes is repaid.

Kaludjak will have to pay back more than $51,000 before June 30, 2011 with garnisheed wages or some other regular payments, the resolution states.

Kaludjak's vehicle, cell phone, satellite phone and computer must also be returned during the suspension period.

First Vice-President James Etoolook will be acting president during Kaludjak's suspension.
