2 Yukon Mounties suspended following sex assault allegation

The town of Watson Lake is located 360 kilometres southeast of Whitehorse, near the Yukon-B.C. border. (CBC)Two RCMP officers from Watson Lake, Yukon, have been suspended with pay pending an investigation into a sexual assault complaint made against them.
The allegation that the officers committed a sex assault while off duty is being investigated by the Yukon RCMP's major crimes unit, according to a new release issued by the RCMP Tuesday.
The force has not identified the officers involved or provided any detail on when the alleged assault took place.
An outside, independent police force has been asked to conduct an "independent officer review" to ensure that the investigation is fair and impartial, said the release.
The RCMP has also launched its own probe to determine if the officers breached the force's code of conduct.
Watson Lake, a town of about 850, is located about 360 kilometres southeast of Whitehorse near the Yukon-B.C. border.
