RCMP in Whitehorse are searching for a prospector missing since the beginning of this month.
Norman Hennel, who is believed to be from Yellowknife, was reported missing on Oct. 1. He had been dropped off by plane in the Yukon's Keel Lake area on Sept. 3.
Police do not know if Hennel is still in the bush, but they say he may have walked to the North Canol Highway and hitched a ride from there to British Columbia, Alberta or the Northwest Territories.
Previous searches of the Keel Lake area produced no sign of Hennel. Police believe he was planning to do his own prospecting work.
Hennel was described as a Caucasian man in his 60s, with blue eyes, five feet 11 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, green wool pants, rubber boots and a baseball cap, and he was carrying equipment including a rifle, an axe and a tarp.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Whitehorse RCMP.
