Yukon RCMP are charging 17 people following a two-month undercover drug operation in communities around the territory.

Undercover officers bought drugs in Watson Lake, Ross River, Teslin, Carcross, Haines Junction, Carmacks, Pelly Crossing and Dawson City, Sgt. Roger Lockwood told a news conference in Whitehorse Monday

"During the undercover operation, the RCMP determined that none of these street-level dealers were linked to each other nor were they linked to any organized crime group," Lockwood said.  "All of them operated separately within their respective communities. "

Ten people have been arrested and police are looking for the other seven, he said.

The five women and 12 men range in age from 26 to 52.

Most of the transactions involved marijuana while one of the men is charged with trafficking cocaine, he said.
