SSi Micro pulls AirWare internet out of 3 N.W.T. communities

N.W.T. telecommunications company SSi Micro says it's pulling its AirWare satellite broadband internet service out of three N.W.T. communities.

Customers in Behchoko, Hay River and Fort Simpson will no longer receive internet service from the company after Sept. 1.

SSi Micro says it lost the tender for federal subsidies to provide internet services to Northwestel and SSI can no longer afford to offer services in Behchoko, Fort Simpson and Hay River.

In an email to customers, the company says it's disappointed because it believes consumers should have a choice when it comes to internet providers.
