Plans are coming together for an international fastpitch softball tournament in Whitehorse this summer.

The schedule has been set for the Junior Men's World Championships, that will see 10 teams from around the world competing over 10 days.

Local organizer George Arcand says there will be some great games to watch.

"Most of the days of the tournament, Canada is scheduled to play 7:30 at night, so that there's no way anyone has to miss a game due to work or any of that kind of thing.  So you'll see some very big games and some evenings with Canada when they do play Argentina or New Zealand," says Arcand.

This will be the third time Whitehorse has hosted a world fastpitch softball tournament.

The junior men's was also in Whitehorse in 2008 and the senior women's in 2012.

Arcand says there were supposed to be 11 teams this year, but Venezuela had to withdraw, because of unrest at home. He expects reigning champs Argentina will be the team to beat.

The tournament runs July 11-20, 2014 at the Takhini ball diamonds.
