It’s been two years since mold was found at Resolute’s health centre, but the Nunavut Department of Community and Government Services has not been able to find a company to clean it up.

The 1,800-square foot health centre in Resolute was built 30 years ago. In March 2011, Pinchin Environmental did a mold assessment of the building at the request of the Department.

The company found mold and water damage from a plumbing leak. Mold was found in one of the examination rooms, as well as crawl spaces, storage rooms, the pharmacy room and washrooms.

The Department of Community and Government Services put the clean-up job out for tender twice — once in late 2011 and again last year — with no success.

A third tender has been issued and it closes at the end of day on May 16.

If the contract is awarded, work is supposed to be complete by October 30.

The Department of Health said the centre will remain open when remediation work starts.
