It's been almost 20 years since a walrus hunting trip near Iqaluit turned into the deadliest boating accident in Nunavut's history. Ten men set out on the trip and only two returned.

PitseolakAlainga, along with fellow survivor Billy Kownirk, was honoured this week with the Nunavut Commissioner's award for bravery. They clung for four days to the wreckage before being rescued.

Alainga sat down recently with CBC's Pauline Pemik to talk about what happened when the fishing boat sank in October 1994.
