Nunavut MLAs are calling on the auditor general of Canada to audit the Nutrition North program.

During a recorded vote in the legislature Thursday all cabinet ministers and regular members stood up in favour of the motion.

MLAs say the program isn't adding up to big enough savings for consumers.

The motion calling for the audit was put forward by South Baffin MLA Fred Schell.

The auditor general is not obliged to respond to the territory's request but the motion could have some sway.
