Prices for fuel in Nunavut will rise on Jan. 1, the territorial government announced on Friday.

The Petroleum Products Division of the Department of Community and Government Services purchases the bulk fuel supply for the territory.

The price of diesel will go up by 10 cents/litre, gasoline by 20 cents/litre and jet fuel by 2.5 cents/litre.

The government justifies the increase, saying retail prices for gasoline and home heating fuel in Nunavut have not increased since 2008.
