Northwestel says it's working to fix its internet usage alert system after several customers got incorrect emails this week saying their internet usage was almost over its limit.

Northwestel says there was a problem with its system that keeps track of customers' usage, and it was giving out inaccurate information.

"We are aware of the issue and we have begun maintenance on the internet usage and email notification tools," said company spokesperson Kerron Williams.

"We are anticipating that as of Sept. 1 the email notification will be restored and it will reflect the correct information."

Williams says everyone who received the inaccurate emails has been notified. He says anyone with any concerns can call Northwestel.
