Rumours can spread like wildfire.

But Yukon Wildland Fire Management have said there is no evacuation order for Carmacks.

Fire Information Officer George Maratos said he's not sure where the rumour started, but he wants to be clear: Residents of Carmacks are not being asked to leave.

Yukon firefighters are trying to set the record straight after recieving calls from anxious residents in Carmacks who are asking about an evacuation order.

Maratos said although there are large fires burning in the Carmacks district the community itself is not threatened.

"The fire might be visible at times and smokey conditions can be expected in the Carmacks area and other surrounding areas including Whitehorse, but at this time there is no evacuation," he said.

One fire has closed the Robert Campbell highway and travellers are requested to check the Yukon road report for updates.

Another fire burning along both sides of the Little Salmon river has prompted an advisory for boaters asking them to avoid the area.
