Discovery Air International is expanding its jet service with a direct flight from Calgary to Norman Wells, N.W.T.

Starting on Nov. 13, Discovery Air will offer direct flights from Calgary to Norman Wells three days a week. The company says the 2.5-hour flight will reduce travel time by five hours in each direction because passengers won't have to change flights in Yellowknife.

The company says it's catering to the increased demand from industry executives who want easier access and same-day travel to the Sahtu.

ConocoPhillips plans to drill two horizontal wells in the region this winter.
