Police from Hay River, N.W.T., made two separate drug busts last week on the same day, on the same stretch of highway near Enterprise.

On Tuesday RCMP and Hay River Traffic Services made a traffic stop near the junction of Highways 2 and 5. With the help of a police dog, officers found one kilogram of marijuana.

A 48-year-old Fort Resolution man and a 44-year-old man from Edgerton, Alta., are charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Later the same day, near the same place, the same two RCMP units stopped a second vehicle and seized about 270 grams of crack cocaine.

A 30-year-old Hay River man and a 19-year-old man from Edmonton are facing drug and weapons charges.

All four men are scheduled to appear in court Jan. 14 in Hay River.

Police say both investigations are ongoing.
