A Fort Resolution, N.W.T., man has been charged with possession and distribution of child pornography in relation to an RCMP investigation last year.

The RCMP’s Operation Snapshot was a four-month multi-agency operation to catch online child predators and involved police services from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

The investigation revealed that a computer at a particular IP address in Fort Resolution was sharing child pornography images and videos.

In October 2012 RCMP seized several digital media storage devices at a residence in the community. RCMP say the technological crime branch in Ottawa completed a forensic analysis of the seized digital media.

Joseph King, 49, was arrested Sept. 26 and charged with possession of child pornography, distributing child pornography and obstruction of a peace officer.

King has been released and will appear in territorial court in Fort Resolution on Dec. 5.
