A Whitehorse man who shot a moose and left it for dead in the bush has been fined and barred from hunting.
40-year-old Ed Bernier pleaded guilty in Yukon Territorial Court on May 24 to wasting meat charges
He must pay $8,625 in court fees and forfeit his rifle.
Bernier shot the moose near Faro, Yukon, last fall.
He initially told officers the moose ran off and he could not find it, but later admitted he didn't try very hard.
Bernier's sentence includes a four-year hunting ban.
