Man arrested in Behchoko, N.W.T., after standoff

One man is in custody following a five-hour standoff with RCMP in Behchoko, N.W.T., Friday.

One man is in custody following a five-hour standoff with RCMP in Behchoko, N.W.T., Friday.

Neighbours say a man began threatening people with a firearm outside his home at around 10 a.m. RCMP arrived and cordoned off the area around his home.

The man was arrested at about 3 p.m. 

Police urged neighbours to stay in their homes during the standoff and students were kept inside Chief Jimmy Bruneau high school as a safety precaution.
