Lisa Arreak found not guilty of prostitution charges
The jury trial of a Pond Inlet woman wrapped up in the community on Sunday.
In 2013, Lisa Arreak, 32, was charged with three criminal offences related to attempting to procure or solicit a person under 18 to have illicit sexual intercourse with another person.
A 12-member jury was selected to hear the case.
The trial lasted 7 days.
Three witnesses took to the stand during the proceedings, including the co-accused in the case.
The jury found Arreak not guilty.
- The original version of this story incorrectly stated Lisa Arreak’s charges: she faced three charges, not four. A charge related to "living off the avails of prostitution" was dropped before the case went to trial. The Crown called two witnesses, not several.Apr 15, 2014 1:40 PM CT
