Liquor Act charges laid in Coral Harbour
Police won't say if teachers involved
A concerned parent in Coral Harbour says people in the community are demanding answers about an incident involving alcohol in the dry community last week.
Jackie Netser says young people broke into houses and got drunk on alcohol they found. Alcohol is prohibited in Coral Harbour.
Last week, Education Minister Paul Quassa told CBC he was aware of a situation in the community where alcohol was found at the home of one or more teachers. Nunavut education officials sent a school operations team there to investigate the allegations.
Netser wants to know how education officials are handling the situation.
"I did not like it at all," she said. "Many of us did not like it at all. Teachers are supposed to be role models."
RCMP say charges have been laid under Nunavut's Liquor Act in connection with incidents last week.
Police say several people are involved but will not say if any of them are teachers.
