Wood Buffalo's regional recreation corporation is recruiting lifeguards in Fort Chipewyan, Alta., today to work at the community's first pool.
The $37 million aquatic centre is expected to open in September. Twelve part-time and four full-time lifeguard positions are up for grabs.
Annette Antoniak, CEO of the regional recreation corporation, says applicants have to be at least 15 years old in order to pass their certifications.
"You don't actually need to know how to swim," she said. "We will teach you to swim. You just have to have the drive and desire and want an exciting career as a lifeguard."
Most of that training will happen in Fort McMurray, Alta.
They're also looking for a few slide attendants to manage the facility's large waterslide.
The job fair runs all day at the MaMawi Community Hall.
