Kwanlin Dün book launch tonight in Whitehorse

"Listen to the Stories: A History of the Kwanlin Dün People" spans more than 40 years of Kwanlun Dün history.

A new book, called "Listen to the Stories: A History of the Kwanlin Dün People" spans more than 40 years of Kwanlin Dün history.

Kwanlin Dün elder Judy Gingell says the idea for the book started after listening to the stories of elders. Gingell says community members realized they didn't want to lose those stories.

"It goes right back before people even came to this area," Gingell says. "It also gives you some of the leaders that we had through KwanlinDün as time goes by."

The book also covers the land claim agreement right up to today.

The book will be launched at a celebration, tonight, at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre. The event will include performances that bring many of the stories in the book to life.
