A Kimmirut, Nunavut, man is dead following a boating accident near the community early Wednesday morning.
RCMP said they received a call at 1:30 a.m. local time about people in the water at Reversing Falls.
A small aluminum boat with two individuals on board had capsized in rough waters.
In a news release, police said people on the scene responded quickly and rescued one man from the water but the other was swept downstream due to strong currents.
Police said the Kimmirut Search and Rescue team responded quickly and community members had boats in the water within minutes.
At about 5:30 a.m., search and rescue volunteers recovered the body of the missing man.
Police are not releasing the names of the men, at the request of family.
