An Iqaluit man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of his uncle.

Alec Petooloosie, 22, appeared at the Nunavut Court of Justice yesterday.

He's accused of killing his 36-year-old uncle Matthew Petooloosie in December at a home in Iqaluit.

RCMP laid a manslaughter charge in the case in January.

The accused was visibly upset and kept nodding during the court proceedings. Before he was escorted out by the police, he hugged a woman inside the courtroom.

His sentencing has been set for Nov. 6. Petooloosie will remain in custody at the Baffin Correctional Centre.
