A coroner’s inquest into the death of Adamie Nuturalak will take place in Iqaluit next month.
Nuturalak was found unresponsive in a police cell on Dec. 9, 2009.
Chief Coroner Padma Suramala said Nuturalak was arrested for being intoxicated and for causing a disturbance.
The inquest is mandatory because Nuturalak died in police custody. It will be held at the Nunavut Court of Justice. It will begin March 12 and last for four days.
Suramala said the list of witnesses is still being finalized.
