Ex-Fort McPherson finance director arrested in Whitehorse
N.W.T. RCMP brought Ina Koe to Yellowknife over the weekend
Ina Koe, Fort McPherson's former director of finance, has been arrested in Whitehorse after failing to appear in court in the Northwest Territories on charges of fraud against the hamlet.
Koe was charged last year with two counts of fraud over $5,000 and one count of breach of trust by a public officer.
She is accused of defrauding the hamlet of Fort McPherson of $424,932.59 between 2010 and 2013. It's alleged she bought personal items and transferred funds to herself from the hamlet's credit card.
A warrant was issued for Koe's arrest after she failed to appear in court twice in December. Her last known address was in Whitehorse.
She was arrested by Whitehorse RCMP after the warrant was extended to Yukon.
N.W.T. RCMP officers travelled to Yukon over the weekend and escorted Koe to Yellowknife.
She was to appear in Yellowknife territorial court on Monday.
