A Yellowknife athlete is heading to the Olympics. On August 25 Michael Gilday announced he's been named to the Canadian Short Track Speed Skating team.

Earlier this month Gilday fell and hit his head at the Olympic Trials. He suffered from a severe concussion and didn't compete in the rest of the tournament.

According to Gilday the Olympic selection committee Canada judged Gilday's performance from 2012 and decided to grant him a spot on this year’s team.

The 2014 Winter Olympics take place in February in Sochi, Russia.
