Rankin Inlet's only garbage truck has been destroyed by fire.

Deputy Mayor Sam Tutanuak says the truck caught on fire July 21, and the vehicle is not salvageable.

Tutanuak says the hamlet is still figuring out how this will affect garbage collection.

Last month, council decided to order a new garbage truck, but Tutanuak says he does not know when that truck will arrive.
