A Whitehorse man who died in a construction trailer fire near the city earlier this week was a victim of foul play, according to police.

RCMP have confirmed that Gordon Craig Tubman, 41, was in the trailer that caught fire Sunday morning at the Norcope Enterprises gravel pit on Copper Haul Road.

His body was found inside the burnt-out trailer after firefighters extinguished the blaze. An autopsy conducted this week confirmed his identity.

Tubman was working as the night watchman on the property and was living in the trailer, RCMP said in a release Thursday.

Police say they are anxious to speak with anyone who saw Tubman, or his white pickup truck with black canopy, last Friday or Saturday.

Full autopsy results, including information on the cause of Tubman's death, will not be available for some time yet, according to police.
